Mr. Marcotte is a well respected member of the plasma TV community for his accomplishments. Mr. Marcotte's imagination and persistence lead to the development of 10+ US and foreign patents in the field of plasma display technology. He has led both research and product development projects and continues to be an inventor, circuit designer and technology consultant.
Mr. Marcotte graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1983 with a bachelors degree in electrical engineering.
In 1991, he joined Plasmaco, Inc. as a research and development engineer. In the ensuing 15 years, Mr. Marcotte played a pivotal role in first-ever demonstrations of PDP technologies spanning 21", 42" and 60" panels.
Mr. Marcotte has devised all-metal electrode structures to bypass transparent electrode and black stripe process steps. The 42" introduced a dual discharge electrode topology with contrast enhancement bars and the 60" demonstrated "Fence" electrodes. Mr. Marcotte was inextricably linked to these new electrodes, their discharge physics, driving properties and manufacturing processes. In 2004 Samsung demonstrated a 102" plasma TV operating with Mr. Marcotte's Fence electrode structure.
Mr. Marcotte and his colleagues developed the first PDP driving waveforms and power electronics that offered high contrast ratios. This core technology is now present in all plasma TVs.
